The kick-off of our Tangible Tomorrow Program is behind us… ⚡️ And what a start it was! Last tuesday we welcomed 4 outstanding spin-off teams from university incubators to our Berlin campus, each building communication technologies in their own way: AISAC – building high-performance, multi-modal digital twins for industrial scenarios with 5G/6G (nominated by Technische Universität Dresden launchhub42 | The ComTech Incubator & Technische Universität München (Technical University of Munich)) fiber-like – solving the connectivity bottleneck with optical wireless backhaul delivering fiber-like performance (nominated by Technische Universität Berlin xG-Incubator) AIkjiu – developing a platform to monetize radio channel data via telco APIs (nominated by Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU)) Hapticlabs.io – democratizing haptic technology with a design and development platform for tangible interactions. (nominated by launchhub42 | The ComTech Incubator) The program’s kick-off brought together pitches, deep-dive sessions and excellent initial collaborative efforts from the spin-off teams, Deutsche Telekom mentors, T-Labs’ R&D experts and university representatives. Together, we’ve set out to refine technical roadmaps, explore use cases, and lay the foundations for co-creation at an enterprise scale! We look forward to tapping into the abilities of these technologies and what they could mean for the future of telco. Thanks to everyone who made this happen. Stay tuned as we embark on an incubation and innovation journey towards Demo Day & beyond.💡 #Innovation #DeepTech #Telco #Tech #frominventiontoinnovation Tim Akgül | Verena Dillenburg | Max Julius Bode | Volker Jungnickel | Sepideh Kouhini | Vlad Andrei | Aladin Djuhera | Amin Seffo | Christof Rauber | Xinyang Li | Stefanie Birk | Thomas Müller | Florian Sägebrecht | Leonard Balbig | Felix Willems | Adam Cwientzek | Thomas Buchholz | Michal Dunaj | Elmar Arunov | Harrison Hongseo Yun | Riccardo Pascotto | Wiktoria Mazur | Jerzy Grzesiak

Sometimes the spark for a startup isn’t a single Eureka moment – it’s decades of lived frustration. 💡 That’s how our resident startup Lichtwart was born. Co-Founder Johannes Mailänder shared with us that the idea grew from watching technicians spend entire days on the road just to replace a €30 part. Moments like Johannes’ turning point – just before Christmas, two highly skilled electricians at his previous company drove nearly 300 km to fix what they thought was a broken illuminated sign. After hours of travel, they arrived only to find the “problem” was that the plug of an inflatable Santa Claus had been pulled out of the socket. Absurd? Yes. 🔌 But also eye-opening. Together with Co-Founders Jackson Bond and Gregor Giataganas, Johannes turned such pain points into conviction: light can be smarter, greener and connected. ♻️ Thanks to IoT, illuminated systems can shine AND they communicate! They tell you what’s wrong, how much energy they use, which spare part you’ll actually need, and much more. That’s how revolution happens: listening to real problems and refusing to accept waste. For Lichtwart, it’s not just about light being on or off, 0 or 1, but also about creating value, saving energy and rethinking an entire industry! May the (smart) light be with us. #Startups #FoundingStory #Berlin #IoT

#startups #finance #pension #berlin | hubraum
Company pensions don’t usually make headlines… But maybe they should. 💰 Co-Founder Philip tells us the spark for ginkgo, our resident startup in Berlin, came from two realizations: 1. Only half of the employees in Germany have a company pension – far behind the 80-90% in most developed countries, and the existing market standard here is weighed down by high fees, low returns, outdated user experience and a lack of transparency. 2. Having worked in leading fintechs, ginkgo’s founding duo knew how disruptive the right mix of strong financial products, innovative software and streamlined processes can be. So Philip and Carl set out to build what they wished already existed: a modern, transparent and value-creating pension platform that turns bAV (betriebliche Altersvorsorge/company pension plan) from a dusty obligation into a win-win for employers and employees alike. 🤝 Why does ginkgo work? Their product is simple and fair with a commission-free, ETF-based pension that combines higher returns with full transparency and flexibility. Think no hidden costs or complex conditions – just globally diversified ETFs, low fees and contracts that adapt to people’s real lives. In short: a company pension designed for the way we actually live and work today. 🎯 Kudos to Philip and Carl for re-inventing what financial security can look like in Germany! #Startups #Finance #Pension #Berlin
